Lazise Hoteliers Commit to Hospitality Growth and Infrastructure Improvements
At Santa Lucia’s market, there is a commitment to revitalize the enhancement of hotel accommodation. The mayor promised this during the celebration promoted by the Associazione albergatori lacisiensi (Lazise Hoteliers Association) for the exchange of Christmas greetings.
“We are grateful to tourism operators for their collaboration during the events,” said Luca Sebastiano, “and for their dedication in the field of hospitality. Together with them, the administration has undertaken the task of accommodating requests, within possible limits, for the qualification of businesses and new investments.” These promises were confirmed by Vice Mayor Flavio Tommasini: “We are committed to eliminating bureaucratic obstacles for some new projects.” The applause from hoteliers was inevitable, as Lazise has long suffered from the lack of development in the sector.
The hoteliers’ celebration and reactions
Returning to the hoteliers’ party held at the Montefelice restaurant in Bardolino, it is worth noting that representatives of related economic associations, local administrators, credit sector operators, and economic figures were present. The host, President Beppino Greco, received compliments for the event.
Among the speakers were, following those of Mayor Sebastiano, Giuseppe Lorenzini, president of the Unione gardesana albergatori (Garda Hoteliers Union), who emphasized that tourism “is the driving force for all the local economies”; and Enrico Merenda, president of the Apt Riviera degli Olivi (Tourist Promotion Agency of Olive Riviera), who highlighted that Lazise is the lakeside town with the highest tourist presence, with a particular increase in non-hotel establishments.
Institutional interventions and future projects
Alberto Martelletto, provincial councilor for productive activities, recalled the measure that designated municipalities with a tourism economy and art cities, while Giorgio Sartori, general secretary of Asco (Association of Commercial Operators), emphasized that the socio-economic growth of the territory results from collaboration among all actors: hoteliers, campers, public establishments, and commercial operators.
Marco Zaninelli of the Assogardacamping (Camping Association) discussed a common goal shared by campers and hoteliers, while Giuseppe Venturini focused on the new Malcesine cable car system and the need to find outlets to boost infrastructure in Prada and Novezza.
Provincial tourism councilor Davide Bendinelli recalled his commitment to fostering associationism. The 2001 program of the Associazione albergatori lacisiense (Lazise Hoteliers Association) includes plans to activate, as soon as possible, an information office along the Gardesana state road near the town center.
“But also,” said President Greco, “we are committed to participating in events organized in the area by the Province and the Region, as well as promoting the fashion show ‘Sotto le stelle’ (Under the Stars). In collaboration with the Municipality, we will prioritize events such as the singing contest Il Cantalago, and in October, the biennial Honey Festival.” The celebration was also an opportunity to present the new brochure featuring Lazise hotels.
