Lazise Welcomes New Parish Priest Don Alessandro Pasquini from Brescia
After bidding farewell to don Edoardo Sacchella, the Christian community of Lazise is preparing to welcome the new parish priest, don Alessandro Pasquini, who comes from the Brescia parish of Portese.
Last night, at 8:30 PM, a prayer meeting was held at the parish church of San Martino, led by don Nicola Azzali, as a blessing for the arrival of the new pastor.
Don Alessandro will arrive in Lazise tomorrow by boat from the lake, specifically from the Brescia shore. He will be accompanied by the bisses of Portese and Lazise.
The journey and arrival of the new parish priest
In total, four boats: two from Portese and two from Lazise. In the middle, the boat carrying the parish priest, followed by many others, including representatives of the fishermen and the Lazise community.
He will arrive at 5:30 PM at the old port, in front of the San Nicolò chapel. He will be greeted by Luca Sebastiano, the mayor, who will extend a welcome on behalf of the entire community.
Afterwards, the procession will proceed to the parish church, where the “admission” ritual will take place with the celebration of a solemn Holy Mass.
Ceremony and welcoming
The ceremony will be presided over by the delegate of the Bishop, Monsignor Piergiorgio Formenti, parish priest of Bardolino. The service will be accompanied by the Schola Cantorum, directed by maestro Giuseppe Castellani.
In case of bad weather, the new parish priest will be welcomed by the Lazisensi at the Porta San Zeno, the eastern gate of the town; the most important, dedicated to San Zeno, the patron saint of Verona, because it is the first gate encountered when arriving from Verona.
At the conclusion of the “admission” ritual, don Alessandro will meet the community in the courtyard of the presbytery for a collective refreshment.
Finally, on Sunday, a large group of Lazisensi will fill the church of Santa Anastasia for the official welcoming of don Edoardo Sacchella, scheduled for 11 AM, with a solemn rite.
