Legislation Proposed to Recognize Lake Garda’s Legal Status in Riva del Garda
A bill proposing legal recognition of the Lake of Garda as a subject of law will be presented on March 7 at Rocca di Riva del Garda, marking the first Italian initiative to grant legal status to a natural entity. The proposal, promoted by Senator Aurora Floridia, aims to establish an autonomous legal personality for the lake, inspired by similar international models for rivers and natural areas.
The event will include a press conference at Piazza Cesare Battisti 3/A, featuring speeches from local officials, legal experts, and environmental advocates. Participants include Mayor Alessio Zanoni, Senator Floridia, lawyer Paolo Giovarruscio, and representatives from Garda tourism and environmental organizations.
