This morning, the new boat of the Civil Protection of the lower Garda was inaugurated, destined to operate between Sirmione and Padenghe, at least in an initial phase. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Regional Councilor for Civil Protection of Lombardy, Romano La Russa, who emphasized the important contribution of the Lombardy Region to the development of Civil Protection in the lower Garda, with a funding of approximately €200,000.

During the ceremony, the president of the Civil Protection of the lower Garda, Luca Trincia, expressed satisfaction and illustrated the main features of the boat. It will be mainly used for cleaning the waters from floating hydrocarbons, but it will also be able to carry out rescue operations if necessary. The boat, called “Levante,” was built in Muscoline thanks to the collaboration between Nautical Boats, Marine Division of Enercom SRL, and Civil Protection of the lower Garda.

The Levante is a hybrid boat, entirely made of naval aluminum 5083, produced almost entirely from recycled material. This technical choice not only guarantees a solid structure and lightness but also allows for total recyclability, unlike fiberglass. The reduced weight compared to a fiberglass boat allows for a reduction in CO2 emissions while maintaining performance. The installed thermal power is 160 kW, in addition to a 10 kW electric motor that allows for clean and silent navigation for about an hour in ports and coastal areas.

The boat can operate with both engines and reach a maximum speed of 30 knots in a short time. With a length of 6.74 meters, a width of 2.48 meters, and a weight of 1850 kg, the Levante can carry up to 7 people. On-board technologies include echo sounder, radar, GPS, depth beacon, flashing lights, siren, VHF, vehicle radio station, self-inflating lifebuoy, stretcher, defibrillator, and various first aid equipment.

The boat is equipped with a pump powered by an independent thermal engine for firefighting purposes, and with oil-absorbing booms for containing hydrocarbons in the water. Furthermore, the Levante is equipped with a double-axle trailer, which allows for quick transportation to other emergency or training areas different from Lake Garda. The boat will be operational from next week.
