Limone Croce Bianca Gets New Ambulance Amid Improved Access to Riva
With the reopening of the Western Gardesana route towards Riva – which since Sunday evening allows quick access to the Trentino healthcare facilities (with which Limone has established specific agreements) in about ten minutes – another good news is added.
This is announced by Angelo Colle, President of the Limone section of the Croce Bianca di Brescia. His association will now have a new rescue vehicle at its disposal.
It is a ambulance donated to the volunteer group by the Banco di Brescia and the Municipal Administration. The handover ceremony of the new, highly equipped emergency vehicle – which is connected with the 118 service – will take place tomorrow evening, Wednesday, July 11, at 8 PM at the Palazzo dei Congressi.
This increases the number of vehicles available to the Limone volunteer group to two, which has been put to the test in recent months due to the interruption of the Gardesana at Nanzel (transit blocked towards Brescia, requiring a detour along the provincial road to Tremosine and then rejoining the main road a few kilometers further on).
Communication issues and rescue interventions
Then there was the landslide at Rocchetta, causing the 45 bis road to be closed for months and making it impossible to reach Riva.
Following Colle’s persistence, the rescue vehicles obtained permission to transit on the old Gardesana, which is used by machinery and trucks involved in the works of the new tunnel.
The tourist season is now in full swing, and the high number of visitors sometimes requires overtime – explains Colle – during which we have gone three times to Riva for urgent cases.
Commitment and appeal to the citizens
Now the vehicles are available, as are the volunteers (about forty) – “but they are never enough: we appeal to everyone,” concludes Angelo Colle – “especially to young people, so they can dedicate a few hours of their time to Croce Bianca di Limone.”
