Limone Road Closure: Towns Await Update on Reopening Timeline
The people of Limone are pressing, eager to know when the semi-closure will end, and they are daily besieging Mayor Giovanbattista Martinelli. To avoid repeating the same information a hundred times, he will attend the public meeting tomorrow evening at 8:30 PM, held at the Palazzo dei convegni.
“I will say everything I know,” the mayor states, “even if it’s not much. The decisions, intervention strategies, methods, and timing are not up to me but are determined by the Provincia autonoma di Trento. They have already done a lot, including planning, despite the initial opposition, the safety improvements along Garda’s road (Gardesana).”
Timelines and Implications for Tourism
Tomorrow, I will communicate to the assembly the estimated timelines for at least a partial reopening of the road. I imagine that Limone’s tourism operators—almost the entire population, since nearly everyone here earns directly or indirectly from tourism—will not be pleased to hear that the Province plans to open in June, during the late season.
I have already mentioned this and reaffirm it: this is already a good piece of news. However, I hope that during the works, the possibility of opening by Easter becomes realistic, even if only for a limited time. Otherwise, both Limone and Riva, and my colleague Malossini is aware of this, will be congested during those days with traffic that, from our perspective, has no outlet to the north, and from Riva’s side, to the south.
For the rest, I know that Dellai is in contact with Formigoni and that perhaps the Regione Lombardia will also take action.
