Limone Traffic Disruptions and Solutions Amid Road and Tunnel Work

Limone is in a hurry; it wants to prevent the closure from coinciding with the Christmas holidays. Therefore, the completion operation of the Gardesana road will begin as early as next Monday, November 12th. A soft start: from Monday at 10 a.m. until midnight on Wednesday the 14th, the road will be closed to one-way alternating traffic.

From 00:00 on November 15th and for 30 days, the closure will be total to allow Collini-Oberosler (who will also carry out the second phase) to excavate within the rock along the 900-meter tunnel, creating two “rooms,” sixty meters by fifteen, designed to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles regardless of what might happen.

The solutions tested for commuters are being reintroduced. Navigarda will establish two catamarans from Limone, each with 130 seats, leaving around 7 a.m. to enable commuters, students, and workers to reach Riva in time.

Transport problems and parking management

The only open issue remains the ferry service: the first ferry from Limone departs at 8:50 a.m., which is too late for workers. The municipal administration is also addressing parking problems. Vicequestore Director Dr. Grasso has issued a prohibition on parking in front of the station, considering it a potential target for terrorist attacks.

The company uses the yard created from waste material as a construction base: even the parking spaces toward the lake are thus eliminated. Piazzale Filzi, at the former station, will be occupied by fairground rides, as tradition for Sant’Andrea, with a predicted influx of parked cars moving westward.

Initially, it will be observed how things develop, then possibly parking on the east side of the ring road will be reinstated.
