Local Talent Shines at Riva del Garda Singing Contest

An Arctic cyclone is sweeping over the Cantalago.

To the notes of “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion, the soundtrack from the Titanic film in Leonardo DiCaprio’s version, fifteen-year-old Morena Lusenti took flight for the final in Riva del Garda scheduled for Monday, August 27.

The young girl from Manerba overcame fierce competition in the singing contest for performers and proved her worth after the unfair and unkind rejection she received in Toscolano Maderno.

Recalled to the semifinals as the best among the eliminated, the young Lombard stunned the large audience gathered in the Baden Powel Garden, a beautiful open-air theater overlooking the lake.

Results of the contest

Nothing to do for the Verona group, represented also by the confident Cristina Pigozzo, skilled at performing “Come Sarei” by Giorgia, but forced to settle for third place.

The top spot was instead reserved for Mariangela Parpinel of Novate Milanese (“Caruso” by Lucio Dalla).

Far from the podium were Marco Tosi of Villafranca (“Raccontami” by Francesco Renga) and Federica Perinon (“Nessun Dolore” by Lucio Battisti).

Things went significantly better for the yellow and blue team in the original composition section.

The seventeen-year-old Linda Ongarelli from Pescantina, with “Sabbia tra le Dita,” a piece written by her father, received thunderous applause and earned the right to compete in the final.

For the last time, the singing contest was presented by the convincing Gloria Zanin, former Miss Italia known for her quick wit and innate charm.

More awards and shows

The election of the most beautiful girl in Salò, a contest qualifying for the provincial Miss Italia selections, achieved particular success during the evening.

The winner was the seventeen-year-old Luana Vollero from Vobarno, accompanied by her maids of honor, Eugenia Maronesi, 22, from Erbusco, and Elena Olivieri.

The show featured the hilarious irony of Renato Trinca, a zany psychologist from the Zelig school in Milan, while Diletta Orlandi, a record producer for the Festival, lifted hearts with her rendition of “Rain on the Heart.”

As always, Cantalago opened a window to the world of solidarity by selling a CD containing the best musical productions of the Festival.

The proceeds will be donated to the Salomè project for children’s remote adoption in Ambodivona, Madagascar, by don Raffaello Serafini and don Romeo Cecchetto.
