It will also be possible to deposit advance healthcare directives in Lombardy’s healthcare facilities. During the recent Budget Session, the Regional Council approved a motion that allows citizens to express their advance directives (DAT) directly in hospitals and local health authorities (ASL), in addition to municipalities or through a notary, as stipulated by Law 219/2017 on “Informed Consent and Advance Healthcare Directives.” This measure, promoted by the Luca Coscioni Association and signed by councilors Paladini and Palestra, aims to make it easier for individuals to declare their wishes regarding future medical treatments.
Cristiana Zerosi, the coordinator of the Association in Lombardy, emphasized the importance of this step in improving access to advance healthcare directives in the region. With a funding of 100,000 euros allocated to ensure communication and information about rights related to advance directives, it is expected that citizens will be able to exercise their right to self-determination in a more direct and accessible manner. The Luca Coscioni Association will continue to monitor the implementation of the necessary resolution to ensure that this opportunity becomes a reality within the Lombard healthcare system.
