Lombardy East Tourism Tax Revenue to Surge in 2025 Driven by Gardesano System
Confesercenti Lombardia Orientale welcomed the 2026 data on the overnight tax, highlighting a significant revenue increase in 2025. The National Tourism Tax Observatory reported that Lombardy collected €158.5 million, a 37.8% rise from 2024, surpassing the national average of 12.8% and positioning the Garda system among the top contributors nationally.
Local officials emphasized the importance of directing funds toward promotion, tourist services, urban maintenance, and accessibility. The report also identified Lazise, Bardolino, Peschiera, and Desenzano as the top revenue-generating lake towns, with Desenzano collecting €2.15 million and Sirmione ranking third in thermal segment with €2.37 million, a 25.9% increase. Overall, national collections exceeded €1.15 billion in 2025, up from €77 million in 2011, with increases partly attributed to tariff hikes, extended application periods, or fewer exemptions.
