Lombardy Emerges as Italy’s Golf Hub with 65 Clubs

Lombardia leads Italy in golf, with 65 affiliated clubs and over 27,000 members, according to a study by EY-Assolombarda conducted between October and November 2025. The sector is valued between €165 million and €185 million, with golf tourism generating €103–118 million. The report highlights golf as a key driver for regional tourism and hospitality, supported by the “Open Horizons. Lombardia, Capitale del Golf” initiative launched by Assolombarda, Federgolf Lombardia, and Confindustria Lombardia.

The analysis identifies four main economic streams: club revenues (€59–62 million), tourism impact (€103–118 million), equipment sales (€3–5 million), and major events like the Italian Open, valued at €8–9 million when hosted locally. International visitors spend €300–500 daily, with stays of 4–7 days, and 2023 saw approximately 160,000 green fees paid by foreign tourists. The study emphasizes the need for an integrated ecosystem combining sport, tourism, and culture, improved connectivity, international promotion, and greater accessibility to expand golf’s regional impact.
