Lombardy Invests in Territorial Monitoring and Risk Management Through Technological Innovations
Lombardy has allocated €3.5 million to fund experimental projects for territorial monitoring and natural-hazard management in vulnerable areas, in cooperation with local public administrations; the regional cabinet approved the measure on a proposal from councillor Alessandro Fermi with colleagues Gianluca Comazzi and Romano La Russa, and Fondazione Cariplo will add €2 million for an SME-targeted call planned for early 2026.
The agreement seeks solutions based on artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to support decision-making on hydrogeological risk, wildfires and strong winds. Projects must be submitted by already constituted communities or territorial supply chains and adopt a “Living Lab” approach involving citizens, businesses and public bodies, with tools designed to integrate into administrations’ information systems to enhance prevention and emergency management in the most exposed areas.
