Lombardy Launches Lake Restoration Initiative with €3 Million in Grants

Lombardy Region has announced a €3.17 million lakes restoration plan for 2026-2028, offering grants up to €300,000 per project to local authorities. The funding, with a call for proposals expected in April 2026, targets interventions within one kilometer of lake shores in eight provinces, including Bergamo, Brescia, and Milan, with projects due for completion by December 2028.

The plan focuses on three main areas: biodiversity protection and enhancement, shoreline rehabilitation, and improvements to sewer systems and stormwater management. Regional authorities emphasize this initiative as a concrete commitment to preserving and restoring lake ecosystems through local project support.
