Lombardy to Boost Coregonus Fishery in Sebino by 2026

Lombardia’s 2025-2026 coregonus restocking campaign introduced nearly 33 million juvenile fish into local lakes, including 5 million larvae released into Lake Iseo between February 11-13, 2026. An additional nine releases along the Brescia shore contributed approximately 28 million larvae, involving professional fishermen, technicians, and provincial police.

The reproduction efforts also involved over 51 million eggs fertilized at regional hatcheries in Clusane d’Iseo and Desenzano. Future plans include stocking trout, marble trout, pike, and tench in Lake Iseo and neighboring basins, with ongoing experimental breeding of carp resulting in about 10,000 specimens released.
