Lonato Fair Budget Approved Ahead of 2024 Opening

Less than a month before the event’s inauguration, the preliminary budget for the forty-third edition of the Fiera di Lonato, scheduled from January 12 to 14, has been approved.

The initiative, which retains the “regional” designation, will continue to focus on the agricultural, enogastronomic, craft, and commercial sectors.

The expenditure forecast, amounting to 450 million lire, has received approval not only from the majority but also from the Lega «autonoma» di Oscar Papa. Conversely, opposition forces including the Lega Nord, Polo delle Libertà, and Lista per Lonato voted against.

Management and Resources of the Fair

With this edition, the fair will return to being managed directly by the Municipal Administration.

Two hundred thirty million lire is the budget allocation for covering losses. This deficit cap, which must not be exceeded, roughly corresponds to the amount recorded in the last edition, as clarified by Mayor Morando Perini.

The budget includes all the expense categories that were previously spread across different chapters.

Main Costs and Expense Items

As every year, the largest expenditure for the Municipal Administration concerns the rental of tent structures and related heating costs.

Overall, this expense amounts to approximately 170 million lire.

The other major negative budget item pertains to the setup of the electrical network, which supplies lighting for the fairground as well as powering the equipment of each exhibitor’s stand.

Obviously, the costs for exhibition spaces are unlikely to significantly exceed the rates charged by similar events; thus, a deficit is inevitable.

Organization and Participation

The other outgoing costs relate to the organization of cultural, sports, and entertainment events promoted in the historic center, as side activities of the fair.

Participation requests are open and can be submitted to the secretariat of the fiera di piazza Martiri della Libertà.
