Lonato Students Urge Restoration of Historic Town Hall Fountain

The school year is coming to an end, but the students of 1ª C at the “Tarello” State Middle School in Lonato have one last request to present to the town’s Culture Councillor, as a completion of their research on fountains and public washhouses. They believe it is a matter of a sort of historical “restoration”.

“Dear Councillor, now that our work is almost finished, and we have gradually discovered many things about our city and its past, we would like to disturb you once again with a reflection and a proposal.

If it is true, as we believe, that we should care for ancient things, whether small or large, precisely because they transmit an extraordinary message that we, in turn, will pass on to others, why not try to restore the beautiful fountain (the oldest in the town), currently located at the Lonatino, to its natural place, that is the Town Hall square?”

We are sure – the students also write to Councillor Alessandra Fontana – that because they love it, the inhabitants of the area will understand that it is a valuable heritage and that only by putting it back in its place can it regain the historical significance it had in the past, which you certainly know.” The students, for now, thank you, awaiting a response, of course.
