Madonna del Carmine Sanctuary: Lombard-Venetian Frescoes Restoration

Here lies one of the artistic jewels of Lake Garda, perhaps little known but worthy of a visit. Just outside the town center is the sanctuary of Madonna del Carmine, built in 1452 in Gothic-Romanesque style.

The cycle of frescoes and the restoration

Its fame stems from the presence of an valuable cycle of frescoes, restored in recent years thanks to the interest of the Carmelite fathers, who cleaned them from the plaster that had covered them for at least three centuries.

The frescoes are from the Lombard-Venetian school, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.
