Malcesine and Sustainability: The Future of Responsible Tourism at Lake Garda
The Garda Green Talk 2025 took place on Wednesday, October 29, at the Palazzo dei Capitani in Malcesine, bringing together institutions and businesses to discuss sustainability in Lake Garda and promote responsible tourism. The event, organized by the Garda Green business network in collaboration with Legambiente and Federalberghi Garda Veneto, saw the participation of administrators, experts, and representatives from the tourism sector, all committed to finding solutions that balance economic growth with environmental protection. Four working groups addressed crucial topics such as climate adaptation, mobility, livability, and waste management, emphasizing the importance of shared governance to ensure a sustainable future for the lake. During the plenary session, concrete proposals emerged to tackle the challenges associated with the increasing tourism in the area. Matteo Gazzi, the Councilor for Ecology and Tourism of the Municipality of Malcesine, highlighted the need to measure tourism in qualitative rather than quantitative terms. Other speakers emphasized that new generations are increasingly mindful of sustainability in their tourism choices. The next Garda Green Talk is scheduled for March 2026, marking another step towards a more sustainable and livable lake for everyone. Italian Version
