Malcesine and the Garda Cycle Path: Complaint for Environmental Devastation
The Green-South Tyrol senator Aurora Floridia, along with senator Luigi Spagnolli, has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office in Verona to report alleged environmental devastation crimes related to the construction of the Garda Cycle Path in the section that crosses the municipality of Malcesine, particularly between Baitone and Navene. Floridia, a resident of the area, has referred to the project as an “eco-monster,” highlighting that a concrete structure measuring 200 meters in length, 2 meters in height, and 3 meters in width has been erected near the beaches and close to a protected area, raising questions about the adequacy of the design choices. In her statement, the senator called for clarifications on the possibility of creating more ecological and sustainable structures, emphasizing the public safety risks posed by access to tunnels unsuitable for cyclists. In a social media post, she also announced a second complaint to demand the immediate suspension of work on this cliff that affects a nature reserve. The issue remains open as the relevant authorities are called to assess the complaints filed. Italian Version
