Malcesine Cable Car Project Approved by Chamber of Commerce and Holz

Yesterday morning, at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, the project for constructing the cable car connecting Malcesine to the 1,760-meter-high Tratto Spino on Monte Baldo was officially presented. The approval of the awarding of the contract to the Holz company from Lana, in the province of Bolzano— the only bidder after an initial call for bids was suspended due to procedural irregularities— was given by the president of the Funicolar Consortium Giuseppe Venturini, together with the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Massimo Ferro, and the president of the Province, Aleardo Merlin.

With them was Giuseppe Lombardi, mayor of Malcesine, the municipality that holds 30 percent of the consortium’s participation quota, composed of the Province (45 percent) and the chamber’s entity (25). The new detail compared to the project long announced by L’Arena concerns, besides the name of the winning company, the 25-billion-lira loan contracted by the Funicolar Company with the O.P.I bank of the San Paolo Imi group based in Rome.
