This evening at 8:30 PM in Manerba, there will be a presentation of the book “Cosa vuoi che sia”, a work authored by Silvia Polo, a retired head of internal medicine, with contributions from 16 women who share personal stories related to violence against women. This project arises from the need to address a frequently underestimated issue and provides a platform for narrating experiences of violence encountered at various stages of life. The authors mainly come from Brescia, but also from other Italian cities, with some opting to use pseudonyms to protect their privacy.
The book is published by Battello Stampatore and will be sold for 15 euros, with part of the proceeds going to local anti-violence centers; the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chiare Acque Anti-Violence Center in Salò. The presentation will feature not only Silvia Polo but also other speakers such as Teresina Bertoletti and Carmelo Scarcella. With over 500 copies already sold and a tour that has visited various locations in Italy, the initiative aims to raise public awareness about gender-based violence and the importance of recognizing early signs of abuse.
