On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 8:30 PM, the Salò Library will host a cultural event of great interest. Massimo Tedeschi, a well-known writer and journalist, will be the protagonist of the “Salòtto d’Autore” organized by the Salò Athenaeum. During the event, Tedeschi will present his latest work entitled “Morte ignobile di Bruno D. Oratorio a dieci voci (più una) sui disastri della guerra” (Ignoble Death of Bruno D. Oratorio in Ten Voices (plus one) on the Disasters of War).

The book focuses on a dark episode of the Second World War that took place in the valleys of Brescia. The plot comes to life from archival documents that reveal the execution of a militiaman from the Republican National Guard for a minor offense. Through the voices of real or imaginary protagonists and witnesses, Tedeschi constructs a multi-voiced oratorio that explores the tragic consequences of war.

The event will feature Andrea Crescini, president of the Salò Athenaeum, who will engage in a dialogue with the author. The readings will be entrusted to Rosalba Ronchi. The evening is free admission until seats are filled.

Massimo Tedeschi holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Milan and is a professor at the Catholic University of Brescia. He is the president of the Brescian Artists Association and a member of the Salò and Brescia Athenaeums. He also directs the magazines Civiltà Bresciana and Natura Bresciana. In his journalistic career, he has collaborated with various publications and has been a correspondent for Bresciaoggi and editor-in-chief of Corriere della Sera.

Since 2016, Tedeschi has published several detective novels set on Lake Garda in the 1930s. He lives in a renovated historic house with his wife Paola, surrounded by many books and pets.
