May 9th is the day dedicated to the memory of the victims of terrorism and acts of violence in Italy. To commemorate this day, the Casa della Memoria in Brescia has organized a series of initiatives open to the public.

The day begins at 12:00 with the traditional commemoration ceremony in front of the Stele dei Caduti in Piazza della Loggia. The ceremony will be opened by the blessing of the Vicar General, Mons. Gaetano Fontana, followed by speeches from the President of the Province, Emanuele Moraschini, and the Mayor, Laura Castelletti.

At 11:00, a delegation from Brescia will participate in the Commemoration dedicated to the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Terrorism at the Senate of the Republic.

Following that, an award will be given to the comic book created by the Don Paolo Raffelli Middle School in Provaglio d’Iseo. The comic book, titled “Senza illusioni e senza disperare” (Without illusions and without despair), won first prize for middle schools and was broadcast live on Rai.

At 17:30, the presentation of the book “Storie di diritti e di democrazia – La Corte Costituzionale nella società” (Stories of rights and democracy – The Constitutional Court in society) will take place at the Salone Vanvitelliano in Palazzo Loggia. The authors, Giuliano Amato, Emeritus President of the Constitutional Court, and Donatella Stasio, a journalist, will be present. The event will be coordinated by Adriana Apostoli, Deputy Rector and Vicar of the University of Brescia and Director of the Department of Law. Mayor Laura Castelletti will open the meeting. Admission is free until seats are filled.

The day will conclude at 20:00 at the Teatro Grande with a commemorative concert as part of the initiatives related to the 50th anniversary of the Piazza della Loggia massacre. The Teatro Grande Foundation, in collaboration with Casa della Memoria, has commissioned a new musical composition by Mauro Montalbetti. The performance will be conducted by the Italian Youth Orchestra, directed for the occasion by Conductor Tito Ceccherini.
