Memorial Concerts in Toscolano Maderno Honoring Victims and Promoting Research

This week, in Toscolano Maderno, two concerts will be held to remember missing persons. Tonight, at 9 PM, at the skating rink, a group of young people will perform “songs for a friend,” dedicated to Paolo Iezzi, who fell to the ground due to an ice sheet (last winter) and died in front of the S. Corona hospital in Fasano, while on his way to work with his motorcycle. Funds raised during this event will be allocated to cancer research.

Memorial performance for Domenico Felicini

On Friday the 27th, at 9 PM, in S. Marco square, the Orchestra of the Vittoriale Theater, consisting of about fifty members, will perform works by Tchaikovsky (Italian Capriccio, Symphony No. 5), Korsakov (Spanish Capriccio), and Rossini (The Thieving Magpie, William Tell).

This concert is in memory of Domenico Felicini, the jeweler who was murdered two years ago. “Remembering innocent victims of injustice and violence committed every day around the world, at least once a year,” explains Patrizia Tomacelli, the municipality’s Culture Counselor.

“Thus, on July 27th, pieces will be performed in the same square, at the same hour, on the same day Domenico was killed. A way to be close to him, in the most heartfelt manner, without rhetoric. A grand classical music concert, open to the public. I hope this event can become national,” she states.

Felicini was 48 years old, with a wife and a son, Paolo, who is now 18. He lived in the Villa delle Rose condominium in Fasano. The thieves had already broken in twice, at night, to steal. He lived in fear, worried they might confront him, uncertain of how it would end.

As he was about to close his shop and head home, that cursed evening, a man with a motorcyclist helmet on his face, a gun in hand, and a black suitcase in the other, entered. Then, unable to grab anything, the robber retreated, possibly thrown off by the screams and reaction. The jeweler chased him onto the sidewalk, holding his revolver with a chrome barrel.

However, he did not have time to shoot because, hidden behind a large pine tree, there was an accomplice, with his face covered by a mask. Felicini was shot four times with a 7.65 caliber gun. His body, covered with a sheet, remained on the pavement for several hours while motorists rushed along 45 bis, heading toward the holidays.

The judge sentenced the perpetrators, but the residents of Toscolano Maderno have no intention of forgetting.
