Recent controversies have surrounded the project of the Garda tramway, with provincial councilor of the Democratic Party, Andrea Curcio, criticizing the approach of Vice President Rolfi. According to Curcio, Rolfi’s statements seem more like a personal publicity strategy than a coherent plan to improve mobility in Valtrompia. The debate has intensified around the extension of the metro to the north, deemed essential before any revival of the tramway. Curcio highlighted the lack of a clear plan and the necessary resources to make these projects a reality.
Other political figures, such as Sergio Aurora from “Provincia bene comune,” have also expressed concerns about the lack of involvement in infrastructure planning. Aurora emphasized that the idea of a light metro to Gardone Valtrompia has not found support among local mayors and fears that without adequate resources, the project will remain merely an announcement. Fabio Capra, also from the Democratic Party, shared similar doubts regarding the economic feasibility of the proposed projects and questioned whether there are real opportunities to access the funds needed to improve transportation in the province.
