A new Operational Lakes Unit has been inaugurated in Milano as part of the 160th anniversary of the Port Authority – Coast Guard. The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Senator Matteo Salvini, alongside the General Commander, Admiral Chief Inspector Nicola Carlone. This unit will be responsible for coordinating search and rescue operations, ensuring navigational safety, and conducting inspections of recreational boating on Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore, and Lake Como.
The Operational Lakes Unit will also serve as a management center for monitoring activities along the fishing supply chain, thereby ensuring adequate oversight for all those who frequent these Lombard bodies of water for both professional and recreational purposes. With this initiative, the aim is to further enhance safety in the nautical sector, addressing the needs of citizens and industry operators.
