This morning marked the inauguration of the hybrid vessel “Ander,” a new addition to the Navigazione Laghi fleet, dedicated to public line services on the waters of Lake Garda. The event took place in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Senator Matteo Salvini, along with various local and regional authorities.

Inauguration Ceremony

Minister Salvini had the symbolic task of cutting the ribbon for the new vessel, accompanied by Undersecretary of State Senator Alessandro Morelli and the Commander General of the Port Authority – Coast Guard, Admiral Nicola Carlone. The ceremony also featured the participation of top regional institutions, highlighting the significance of the event for the area.

Technical Features of the Vessel

The vessel “Ander” is designed to carry up to 250 passengers and is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system. This represents a significant step towards the ecological transition initiated by Navigazione Laghi, aimed at improving the capacity for transporting travelers sustainably. The vessel complies with the latest accessibility regulations for passengers with reduced mobility and is equipped with racks and charging stations for electric bicycles.

Recognitions and Comments

During the inauguration, Undersecretary Morelli expressed gratitude to Minister Salvini for his attention to public lake transport: “The teamwork between Navigazione Laghi and the Port Authority is already yielding tangible results,” he stated. He also emphasized how the investments made by the Ministry represent a long-awaited response for the regions bordering the three major Italian lakes.

Commitment to Sustainable Transport

Pietro Marrapodi, the Government Manager of the Agency, highlighted the importance of efficiency in public transport: “The vessel Ander confirms our commitment to an increasingly sustainable service.” With this new unit – the thirtieth operational on Lake Garda and the one hundredth in the entire fleet – the aim is to meet the growing needs of travelers who use alternative means such as bicycles. The vessel will enter service in the coming days, further enhancing public transport in the area.

The inauguration of the vessel “Ander” thus marks an important milestone in the journey towards a more sustainable future for lake services on Lake Garda.
