Monte Suello Alpini Sectional Rally in Salò Celebrates Centenary With Parade and Alpine Values

The Monte Suello sectional gathering, held in Salò to mark the centenary of the Monte Suello Section, concluded on Sunday, June 14 with the traditional grand parade through the historic center. Thousands of Alpini and supporters from the Garda area and Valle Sabbia attended, with the event opened by the banners of the Municipality of Salò and the Monte Suello Section, in the presence of Mayor Francesco Cagnini and sectional president Sergio Poinelli.

During the closing ceremony, national president Sebastiano Favero urged passing Alpine values to younger generations, saying, “There is a magical thread that binds us; we must not lose it, we must pass the baton to the younger.” Poinelli and Cagnini emphasized cohesion and commitment. Civil and military authorities, the Gruppo Alpini di Salò and Star of Alps bands, Civil Protection, the regional wildfire unit, and Red Cross volunteers participated; the baton was handed to Alpini from Agnosine, who will host the 2027 Adunata sezionale. A commemorative plaque at the sectional headquarters on Via Fantoni was unveiled, honoring battalions Vestone, Valchiese, Monte Suello, and Monte Cavento. The Sezione currently numbers 3,214 Alpini, 410 amici degli Alpini, and 844 aggregati across 57 Groups.
