Montecastello Path: Tignale Promotes Sustainable Tourism
A new trail dedicated to the Cammino di Montecastello has been inaugurated in Tignale, featuring a loop of approximately 8.5 km that retraces the ancient pilgrimage of the statue of the Madonna di Montecastello. This path, set amidst landscapes characterized by lemon groves and olive trees, offers a unique experience where nature, culture, and spirituality intertwine. The project aims to promote sustainable tourism, enhancing local heritage and encouraging an experiential engagement with the territory. Developed with the support of the Regional FESR Program 2021-2027 from the Lombardy Region, the trail connects historical sites such as the Sanctuary of Montecastello and the Hermitage of San Giorgio. The initiative has been warmly welcomed by the Municipality of Tignale, which aims to strengthen its identity as a destination for “slow” tourism. Local authorities have emphasized the importance of community involvement in promoting the trail, which encourages the use of public transport and the active participation of tourism operators. The Cammino di Montecastello not only offers breathtaking views but also represents an opportunity to rediscover historical and cultural traditions through a hike that takes approximately four hours to complete.
