In Montichiari, a new report has emerged regarding the mirror scam, a crime that has already made headlines in other locations such as Desenzano and Valsabbia. This deceit involves criminals throwing stones at vehicles to simulate an impact, subsequently demanding immediate compensation without involving insurance. Mayor Marco Togni reported that two individuals, caught in the act while attempting to defraud a young female driver, were apprehended by the Local Police. Officers discovered stones and colored chalk in their vehicle, typical tools of this fraud.
The two scammers, Italians from southern Italy, claimed to be “camping” in a nearby municipality. The Local Police are now conducting an investigation, and the mayor intends to inform his counterpart in the neighboring town about the presence of these individuals. To ensure road safety, the Carabinieri advise motorists to remain inside their vehicles in suspicious situations and to contact law enforcement immediately to avoid theft or further issues.
