The trial against a 44-year-old truck driver, accused of assaulting his partner in broad daylight in Montichiari, has recently begun. The incident dates back to May 21 of last year, when a witness observed the assault and alerted the local police, describing how the man struck the woman with slaps and punches. The officers responded promptly and arrested the truck driver in the act, after the victim had managed to escape.
Subsequently, the judge imposed a ban on the defendant residing in the province of Brescia and ordered him to stay away from his ex-partner. However, despite these restrictions, the man continued to stalk her by contacting her through an online platform, leading to a second arrest following a new report from the woman. During the trial, the victim detailed the assaults she suffered and revealed that she still feels very scared to leave her home for fear of further attacks. The next hearing is scheduled for February 10, when the statements of the defendant will be heard.
