Mugo (Pinus mugo) Uses and Benefits in Essential Oils and Skincare
MUGO (Pinus mugo Turra)
Uses of Mugo Parts
Parts of the mugo, also known as black pine, include the twigs, which are harvested in spring and summer.
An essential oil called mugolio is derived from mugo, prized for its balsamic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, fluidifying, disinfectant, and sedative properties.
Due to its diuretic effects, mugo is also recommended for cases of pielitis, catarrhal cystitis, and urethritis.
For external use, it is an effective disinfectant for the skin and, when inhaled, for the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.
In cosmetics, a bath prepared with mugo twigs has stimulating, deodorizing, and purifying effects.
