Municipal Culture Program Offers Lectures and Film Classes for Adults
A breath of culture. This is the goal of the Municipal Administration which, in collaboration with the Auser Traveling University of Verona, has organized an engaging program of lectures for the autumn-winter period.
A series of meetings, every Thursday at 8:30 PM in the council chamber, featuring topics that are highly diverse and aimed at an adult and senior audience. The initiative is promoted by Romano Brusco, councilor for culture.
Objectives and content of the initiatives
“Aside from sporadic attempts, this is the first time in our town—at least in recent years—that efforts have been made to offer residents group opportunities to explore history, art, literature, archaeology, and psychology. All topics that will be discussed and explored in depth by experts in the field.”
It’s an occasion for intellectual exchange, as well as a chance to rediscover the joy of leaving the house, abandoning passive TV watching, and keeping the mind engaged.
In practice, thanks to the active collaboration of Albertina Cortese, president of Auser, we have established a branch of the traveling university.
Film classes and registration methods
Alongside the Thursday «lessons» (the first is scheduled for October 19), starting from January, there will be ten meetings every Tuesday with masters of Italian cinema from the post-war period to present day.
The course will be led by Mario Guidorizzi and will analyze masterpieces by directors such as Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio De Sica, Pietro Germi, Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Francesco Rosi, Sergio Leone, and Nanni Moretti.
Romano Brusco concludes, “Various clips from the most important films will be proposed with the aim of analyzing their artistic journey.” Registration for the course is open until September 30 at the protocol office of the Municipality, ground floor, by paying the membership fee of 25,000 lire.
