Until November 9, 2025, the MUSE in Trento hosts the exhibition “From Ice to Us: MUSE’s Research on Glaciers in the Anthropocene,” an event that celebrates the International Year for Glacier Conservation. The exhibition focuses on the importance of the glaciers of Trentino, highlighting their role as vital ecosystems and archives of the Earth’s climatic history. Through videos and informative panels, visitors can explore the consequences of climate change on the cryosphere, with particular attention to the dramatic reduction of the Marmolada glacier, which has lost 94% of its volume since 1888.
The inauguration featured the participation of industry experts, including Valeria Lencioni, coordinator of the Climate Ecology Research Area at MUSE, who emphasized how glaciers are crucial indicators of the ongoing environmental transformations. The exhibition not only provides insight into the physical loss of these extraordinary ecosystems but also encourages deep reflection on our relationship with them and the actions necessary to mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
