Mushroom picker injured in Gardone Riviera: rescue in the mountains
A 59-year-old man, a mushroom forager, was found injured on Sunday evening in the area of Gardone Riviera after a lengthy and concerning search operation. The man had gone missing in the afternoon while he was in the woods, prompting his family to contact the authorities after numerous unsuccessful attempts to reach him. This situation immediately activated rescue efforts, involving the Carabinieri, Firefighters, Alpine Rescue technicians, and 118 emergency operators, with support from a Guardia di Finanza helicopter.
After nearly ten hours of searching through the dense vegetation in the San Michele area, rescuers finally located the man, who had been immobilized due to a fall that caused a fracture in his pelvis. Stabilized by medical personnel at the scene, the mushroom forager was subsequently transported down the mountain to receive the necessary medical care.
