Music for Animals at Bussolengo’s Natura Viva Park
A mini Christmas concert dedicated to animals took place at the Parco Natura Viva in Bussolengo, aimed at promoting their well-being through music. Musicians Michele Negrini, also known as Michele Mud, and Ivan Ottolini, known as Ivan Wildboy, performed festive melodies such as “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night” across various habitats in the park. The initiative involved eight different species, including giraffes and chimpanzees, and was monitored by researchers from the Zoom Foundation in collaboration with the Universities of Parma and Padua to assess the animals’ behavioral responses.
During the concert, giraffes displayed curiosity while giant tortoises relaxed to the music. Lemurs took advantage of the event to enjoy sunbathing near the musicians, and three reindeer calves were notably exploratory throughout the performance. Research will continue until Epiphany to further investigate the effects of music on animal behavior, providing valuable insights for future studies in zoology.
