Nago-Torbole Farmers Plan New Wells to Secure Water Supply
New Assembly, next Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Casa della Comunità, for the Consorzio di miglioramento fondiario di Nago-Torbole. The entire board needs to be renewed. This is especially relevant considering that President Filippo Mandelli has been resigned for some time. His role, after all, has been successfully fulfilled: it involved the cycle of appeals and the exit from the “progetto” (project) of the irrigation “Busa”.
Moreover, this situation had triggered a widespread protest from almost all similar bodies, resulting in the final closure of the irrigation consortium itself. Interest for the farmers of Nago should now focus on securing water supply independently, since it is lacking in any case. And without having to rely on the municipal aqueduct anymore, which is also quite poor during critical summer periods, barely able to meet domestic needs.
This was at least the unanimous will expressed during the last assembly. Water to be drawn directly from the underground, where there is surely an abundance: this has been confirmed, first empirically by a dowsing expert and later scientifically by geologists, at the right drilling points. So, it only remains to dig some wells, as proposed in a study presented by Dr. Lotti.
This is now possible after a delay caused by the ban (now lifted) on drilling wells, which had been imposed at one point by the ministry. The outgoing board proposes enough wells to provide 15 liters per second of water. Four wells are planned, thanks to funding from the Provincia.
The first, undoubtedly, will be the one serving as a booster station, to be located near the cemetery. An essential service, which was discontinued last summer when the water point was closed, due to the chronic lack of potable water in Nago.
The construction of the wells will be the first step, provided that the farmers of Nago wish it, towards implementing systematic drip irrigation for the fields.
