Nautical checks on Lake Garda: 84 irregular boats discovered

Maritime Inspections: The Guardia di Finanza Identified 84 Irregular Vessels on Lake Garda as part of the “SecureLake 2025” operation conducted during the summer. The inspections involved naval units that carried out 148 checks, of which 84 were found to be non-compliant, resulting in fines totaling approximately €53,000. In addition to the inspections, the agents also conducted 144 checks and four rescue operations, saving eleven individuals in distress.

The most frequently observed violations pertained to a lack of knowledge regarding safety regulations for navigation, such as the dangers of navigating close to shore, the absence of onboard documentation and safety equipment, as well as speeding during personal watercraft operations. To enhance safety on the water, preventive surveillance activities have been intensified, and compliant vessels have been awarded a “blue sticker” certifying their adherence to current regulations. This initiative is part of the Corps’ efforts to maintain order and public safety on the lakes.
