Increased controls on Lake Garda, fines for dangerous navigation, lack of documentation, and speeding. The Naval Operational Section of the Guardia di Finanza has recently imposed fines totaling €37,000 following 48 irregularities detected during the “Scure Lake” operation. The units conducted 87 inspections, more than half of which revealed violations related to excessive speed, lack of knowledge of safety regulations, and absence of necessary documents. These infractions were particularly noted in the coastal areas of the lake.
In addition to addressing irregularities, preventive measures have been enhanced to ensure navigation safety. Inspections were carried out to verify that vessels complied with legally required equipment; those that pass the inspection receive a “blue sticker,” certifying their compliance with regulations. During these operations, the Guardia di Finanza also conducted four rescue interventions, saving eleven individuals in distress, including a minor aboard a malfunctioning sailboat in the municipality of Salò.
