New Garda Magazine “L’altro Lago” Highlights Local Culture and Tourism
Presentation of the magazine and objectives
“L’altro Lago, di Garda” is the new quarterly magazine set to be released soon in the Garda area bookstores. “An editorial proposal focused on tourism, culture, traditions, gastronomy, art, itineraries, and entertainment” stated Ermes Buffoli, the Provincial Tourism Assessor, during the launch event along with other authorities including the mayor of Desenzano, Felice Anelli, the assessore Farinelli, the president of the Regional Mountain Committee, Giuseppe Romele, and other guests from different locations around Garda.
Characteristics and authors
The magazine is described as having a “seasonal publication schedule,” coming out at the beginning of each season: summer, autumn, winter, and spring. It was initiated and created by a young Brescia-based entrepreneur, Nicola Bassi, his second experience in local publishing after “Franciacorta Magazine.” Bassi himself introduced the innovation through a video, also published in two foreign languages, English and German, in addition to Italian.
Vision and editorial goals
“That which you know but do not see; that which you hear but do not find; that which you imagine but is real,” stated publisher Bassi. The magazine aims to seek out and showcase those places, landscapes, and artists that inhabit the lake, often unnoticed due to the routines of everyday life.
Message and content
“We will seek — Bassi concluded with a certain emotion — a magic that will lead us to rediscover this ‘region,’ so close but so distant because of its ability to offer travelers a forgotten quality of life and a different way to spend their leisure time.”
Contributors and themes addressed
The publication features a team of contributors led by Luigi Del Pozzo. This issue, rich in photographic images, discusses Toscolano Maderno and its history; the first golf course on Garda (and the third in Italy), established in Bogliaco in 1912; the historic fortifications; the D’Annunzio War Museum; the “Valle di Carta” (Paper Valley); and the main events around Garda.
