New Public Parking Spots Approved Near Historic Center in Lakeside Town
A handful of new parking spots near the historic center, regulated by a time-display permit, are now available for residents, visitors, and tourists of the small lakeside town.
The decision was unanimously approved at the last session of the city council, during which administrators opted to revoke a previous resolution. The original decree, which granted the new parking spaces—created on Via Dall’Oca Bianca—under concession to residents and business owners in the historic center lacking private garages or parking facilities, has now been replaced by an ordinance issued by the mayor, which designates the area as public parking.
History of Parking Management Decisions
As early as June 2000, when the council decided to allocate the new parking lot for the benefit of merchants residing downtown, effectively making the area a sort of private property, councilor Mirella Giacometti had instead proposed using those spaces for public parking.
“And now that we’ve granted parking concessions to residents with businesses in the historic center and other residents—twenty-four parking spots located in the underground level of Via per Albisano,” explained Alberto Vedovelli, the mayor, “the parking spaces on Via dell’Oca Bianca can be used by all citizens and are regulated by a ninety-minute time-display permit, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.”
Parking Regulations
But that’s not all. An additional mayoral ordinance has opened up the small public parking lot, regulated by a time-display permit as well, located near the Hotel Romeo, right in front of the newly “unlocked” area on Via Dall’Oca Bianca.
