Nicolò Salvà Memorial: General Lee wins as Baffun 2 dominates in Brenzone
General Lee has won the Memorial Nicolò Salvà, while Baffun 2 secured victory in the Regata delle Isole e delle Rose during the sailing weekend in Brenzone. The event featured the wait for Saturday’s Òra and stronger Sunday conditions with the Peler, and the Regatta Committee led by Pietro Benamati completed three windward-leeward races on the opening day for the Short Series.
In the first races, General Lee—sailed by Mauro Spagnoli with owner Patrizia Anele—won all the legs, finishing ahead of Gattone (Massimiliano Docali) and Baffun 2 (Tommaso Dal Cin), with Aquilotto (Paolo Di Lecce) showing good form. On Sunday’s long race, driven by Peler, Baffun 2 chose to stay on the Verona side rather than tack toward Campione, leading to a win over General Lee and Gattone, but General Lee ultimately took the overall Memorial title for consistency.
The Memorial included a minute’s silence for Alcide Morani, trophy presentations by Federica “Chicca” Salvà, and an award for best skipper-owner to Massimiliano Docali. The Protagonist 7.50 class now turns to the Salò Sail Meeting on 4–5 July in the Gulf of Salò.
