Novello Wine Celebrated with Ambassadors and New Custoza Confraternity

Four ambassadors for the Novello wine. Agostino Omini, vice president of the Unione Ciclistica Internazionale; Robert Jung, German composer and record producer; Carlo Cambi, journalist for the L’Espresso group; and Vera Meneguzzo, director of the magazine «Cara Giulietta» and collaborator of the «Corriere vinicolo»; will be crowned this afternoon at 5 p.m. at the Barchessa Rambaldi by the Confraternita del Vino Bardolino, presided over by Grand Master Gaetano Zeni.

This will also be an occasion to present the newly formed Confraternita del Bianco di Custoza during a day dedicated to the Novello, a wine produced from the best Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, and Negrara grapes. Clusters are harvested intact and placed in special vinicultural containers to undergo carbonic maceration, the process that imparts Novello with its characteristic aromas and fragrances.

The Novello Festival and the wine conference

To celebrate the 15th Novello Festival, the Consorzio tutela Vino Bardolino has also organized a conference, which will be held in the council hall of Palazzo Gelmetti at 10 a.m., dedicated to «Youth and Wine», with speakers including Carlo Valli, a university professor specializing in marketing; Carlo Cambi; and Alessandro Volpi from the Istituto Tecnico Commerciale Pindemonte in Verona.

Attending will be Giuseppe Degli Albertini, president of the Consorzio di tutela Vino Bardolino; Bardolino Mayor Armando Ferrari; provincial councilors Adimaro Moretti degli Adimari and Albino Pezzini; the dean of the Alberghiero di Bardolino, Armando Gallina; and Roberto Pesce, dean of the Istituto Commerciale Pindemonte in Verona.

Tasting and characteristics of Novello

Following this, at noon at the Barchessa Rambaldi, a tasting of Bardolino Novello, curated by the Istituto Alberghiero, will take place.

Novello, an autumnal “sun and moon” early harvest wine, is a versatile beverage that expresses its best qualities within the first six months thanks to its fragrance and freshness. It is a drink that can accompany an entire meal, pairing well with both appetizers and main courses.

It is favored by those inclined toward fresh wines that are meant to be consumed promptly. It should be served at a temperature of 14°-15°C and enjoyed while fresh, by the following spring after the year of production.
