Ottobre a Teatro: Regional Amateur Play Festival at Sighele School

On Saturday, the sixth edition of the amateur theatre festival “Ottobre a teatro” will open at the auditorium of “Sighele” middle school in the Rione 2 Giugno.

It is organized by the circolo culturale Zanelli with artistic collaboration from the theatre company I Sarcaioli and sponsored by the Department of Culture.

The program includes six performances on Saturday evenings until November 3rd. Theatre companies from Bolzano and Verona will participate in the festival.

The dual aim is to further qualify “Ottobre a teatro” and to offer theatre enthusiasts a panoramic view of amateur theatre from other regions.

Future perspectives and the language of theatre

Next year, the festival will expand beyond the provincial borders to include theatre groups from Brescia and Vicenza.

The organizers emphasize that the new directions will not detract from the Trentino dialect, which remains the audience’s preferred language.

This is confirmed by the five vernacular performances in today’s program, while only one will be in Italian.

Performance schedule and regulations

“Ottobre a teatro” will kick off on Saturday at 8:45 PM with actress Loredana Cont, who will star in “Le casalinghe” (“The Housewives”).

On the second evening, the “Filogamar” company from Cognola will perform “Oscar,” followed by the “Doss Caslir” philharmonic group from Cembra with “Camera ad ore” (“Room by the Hour”).

On Saturday, October 20th, the Veronese company “Scacciapensieri” will present “La Strana coppia” (“The Odd Couple”), and on the 27th, the Bolzano ensemble will perform “La moglie ingenua e il marito malato” (“The Naive Wife and the Sick Husband”).

The concluding performance will be by the Povo-based theatrical group Concordia 74 with “El belvedere e la bancheta” (“The Belvedere and the Little Bench”).

The entrance ticket will cost 10,000 lire, and a season pass for all six evenings will be priced at 48,000 lire.
