Over 10,000 Orchids on Display at Padenghe Exhibition by Mrs. Alessandrini

There will be over 10,000 orchids on display in Padenghe from Friday to Sunday during the floral and nursery exhibition promoted by a passionate orchid enthusiast, Mrs. Maria Claudia Alessandrini, owner of the company «Orchidea». Last year, she was invited to organize an orchid exhibition in the Principality of Monaco.

Entitled “Open Doors,” the trade fair and exhibition will feature collaboration and participation from two other companies from Varese and photographer Renato Idi. Of course, not all plants on display will be for sale; simply admiring them will already be a privilege.

Just under three hundred will be part of the commercial section, although the event was not organized solely for commercial purposes but to showcase one of the most beautiful and admired flowers in the world.

Details about the collection and logistics

Approximately 3,000 botanical species of the collection on display will be presented in their natural environment; in the world, around 25,000 species are known. The exhibition, with free entry for all visitors from 10 am to 8 pm, has been set up in greenhouses at via Monte, 81, a location that presents some parking challenges.

Visitors are advised to leave their cars in the spaces in front of the castle and then walk a few hundred meters to reach the exhibition.

Native orchid species and conservation

It is important to remember that Valtenesi, and particularly the Rocca di Manerba, hosts numerous native species that grow naturally in its territory, including the very rare «Ophrys bertolonii benacensis» or «Lake of Garda mirror orchid». These plants grow spontaneously, and to protect their survival, collection has been strictly prohibited.

«Every living species is part of an irreplaceable natural heritage — experts state — non-replaceable». Let us learn to admire and respect these orchids in their wild state.
