Padenghe and poisoned baits: alert for dogs and foxes

Poisoned Bait in Padenghe: Foxes and Dogs at Risk A dead fox has been found in the countryside of Valtenesi, specifically between Padenghe and Soiano. The provincial police recovered the animal’s carcass after being alerted by passersby, suspecting possible poisoning. It is believed that the fox may have ingested poisoned bait deliberately left in the grass, thus posing a serious risk to domestic animals, particularly dogs that are walked in the area. The definitive confirmation regarding the poisoning will only come after analyses conducted by the Zooprophylactic Institute of Brescia, to which the carcass has been sent. Although the animal was in an advanced state of decomposition and had been dead for several days, it showed no evident signs of violence, such as traps or gunshot wounds, leaning towards the hypothesis of poisoned bait. This phenomenon represents a recurring issue in the lower lake area, with similar incidents recently reported between Lonato and Desenzano. Italian Version
