Padenghe Pro Loco Revived to Boost Culture, Sports and Events
They are all young and determined to uphold and enhance the image of Padenghe, energizing it culturally and sportively. To make their intentions concrete, they have revived the Pro loco, revitalizing it with new energy. The new president is Mario Vavassori, his vice Marina Soldi; mayors Noemi Bonapace, Monica Zannoni, and Raffaella Terraroli. Among the councilors are Annalisa Speziali (press officer), Concetta Grosso, Andrea Cobelli, and Livio Frigerio. Now, in collaboration with the municipal administration (Department of Culture), the new Pro loco is seeking to enrich the already successful event held from April to October: “Artists in the Square,” a tradition that has been ongoing for six years. Meanwhile, activists have already distributed bunches of mimosa for International Women’s Day, and on Sunday they will present the “Flowers Festival.” During this occasion, the town will be decorated with a large variety of natural colors. On the streets, you will also encounter storytellers, attractions, games, stalls, and abundant music.
Future Programs and Initiatives
What are the immediate future plans? On Saturday, June 2nd, in anticipation of the Giro d’Italia, some sports events will take place. On Sunday the 3rd, during the passage of the Pink Caravan, the new edition of Artists in the Square will be held. In July, the Cotton Club Jazz of the Roaring Twenties will feature cabaret performances. From Friday, August 3rd to Monday, August 6th, the Alpini festival will be held, while other events are currently being organized.
The young leaders of Pro loco also plan to develop a website to facilitate the now-essential online promotion of the town. “We are eager to do more,” assures Vavassori, “- but to achieve this, we need the stimulating support of all citizens, the recognition of merchants, tourism operators, and the municipal administration. Anyone wishing to join Pro loco is very welcome. The membership fee is 15,000 lire.”
