A new Ecopans composter has been inaugurated at the Botanical Garden of Palermo, marking a significant step towards circular economy. This event took place on May 16, 2024, coinciding with the 28th edition of the Zagara di Primavera, a market exhibition dedicated to gardening and horticulture. Developed by the company Ecopans from Gardone Riviera, the composter represents an innovative model for managing the garden’s plant waste, transforming it into high-quality humus for the surrounding greenery.
With a treatment capacity of 130 tons per year, this technology enables efficient management of the plant residues produced by garden maintenance. Unlike traditional composting, the closed and airtight system of the composter prevents the escape of odors and liquids, while internal aeration and automated handling optimize the process. This project not only promotes environmental sustainability but also demonstrates how waste can be reintegrated into the production cycle in the form of fertile soil.
