Parco Natura Viva and Zoom Torino Reveal Top Five Cold-Climate Animals for Milan-Cortina

Two wildlife parks, Natura Viva and Zoom Torino, have released a “Top Five Cold-Weather Animals” list, highlighting animal adaptations during the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics. The infographic, developed by biologist Michela Cogo, features species such as the Siberian tiger, snow leopard, Arctic wolf, reindeer, and red panda, drawing parallels between their traits and Olympic disciplines.

The parks compare the snow leopard’s jumping ability to ski jumps, the Arctic wolf’s pack cooperation to ice hockey, the reindeer’s extensive migrations to cross-country skiing, the red panda’s agility to freestyle snowboarding, and the Siberian tiger’s movement in snow to giant slalom. The initiative also references a 2023 Wildlife Letters study on tiger tracking in response to habitat changes.
