A Parkinson’s neurostimulator has been successfully implanted at the Policlinico di Milano, marking a significant innovation in telemedicine. This device, the smallest rechargeable system available, allows doctors to adjust stimulation parameters remotely, thereby enhancing the quality of care for patients. The procedure was carried out at the Parkinson and Parkinsonism Center, and the patient was awake during the operation, enabling surgeons to monitor brain activity in real time.
Thanks to the integrated telemedicine platform, the neurostimulator provides the ability to continuously record and monitor the patient’s brain activity from home, facilitating timely reprogramming of the device according to clinical needs. This initiative is part of a long-standing collaboration between the Policlinico and the G.Pini-CTO Parkinson Center, aimed at optimizing the management of chronic conditions through advanced technologies.
